In this post, we will be doing a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro review. The Poco X3 Pro is one of the latest additions to the Xiaomi’s Poco lineup. The device came out as the successor to the Poco F1.
With the Poco F1, the Xiaomi company offered a new value proposition for the phone as it came out with some heavy specs but a price tag that stayed in the budget category.
Although the Poco X3 Pro is coming out as the successor to the Poco F1, the times are changed in terms of figures and the hardware quality.
So is the Poco X3 Pro offering by Xiaomi as good as the Poco F1?
In this new era of smartphones, the expectations of buyers from budget devices have greatly increased.
Even though the Poco device lineup is known for it’s proprietary mid-range devices, holding on to that legacy is becoming a harder task by day. Considering the competition in the mobile phone market among the budget devices, it is quite hard to grab the spotlight.
The Poco X3 Pro also comes out with a price tag that marks it as one of the many budget devices. But is the offering good enough for this price tag? Find out in our brief Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro review below.
Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro Review | Device Overview
The device comes in 3 different variants in terms of memory and the internal storage; 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage(£229) , 8GB and 128GB(£239) and 8GB and 256GB(£229). In terms of color, it comes out in Golden Bronze, Graphite Black, and Steel Blue.
The Poco X3 Pro is a device which focuses more on performance than any other aspect which is quite apparent by the specs sheet for the device. Talking about the processor, the X3 Pro features Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset under the hood.
In terms of the chipset, the device sure stands out among the other devices in the budget segment. It also sports an Adreno 640 GPU, which again is quite impressive for any device in this segment. It comes out of the box with Android 11 along with MIUI 12 skin.

Body
The dimensions of the Poco X3 Pro are 165.3 x 76.8 x 9.4 mm (6.51 x 3.02 x 0.37 in), which means that is it is 1mm thinner as compared to the original Poco X3.
This gives the device a slim, smart look as compared to Poco X3. We get to see the back made of plastic, that beholds a large Poco logo. The placement of the bold logo has become more of a signature property of Poco devices.
A glossy strip runs in the middle up to the large quad camera setup. The strip is accompanied by matte racing strips on either side of it and is finger print proof. This contributes to the stylish look of the device.
The volume up and down buttons and the power button are on the right side of the device. The volume rocker feels very light and soft, which is not liked by many users.
But the power button also has a finger print scanner which is quick and has a good responsiveness. The responsiveness does not deteriorate by day and is much more efficient as compared to a in-display fingerprint.
Similar to many other Xiaomi phones, we get to see an Infra red blaster at the top of the Poco X3 pro. At the bottom, the device features a type-C USB port along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.
Even though the speakers are not one of the loudest out there, they are good enough. The stereo speakers also lack bass.
Display
Next on our Xiaomi Poco X3 review is the device’s display. There is a 6.67 inch display along with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. The panel offer impressive contrast but the original RGB color profile offers better accuracy in terms of colors.
Talking about visibility in strong sunlight, the device’s screen was visible, but was not good and could be better in this price range. Coming to the black levels, they are of course not as great as one gets on an OLED display.
But this will only be a nuisance for those who do a lot of streaming and watch a lot of videos and stuff. We also get corning gorilla glass 6, which makes the device safe.
Battery
One of the most impressive aspects of the device is it’s large battery. It sports a massive 5160 mAh battery that comes with support for 33W fast charging. This is very useful for users who have to use their phone extensively.
The device has a USB type C charging port and can be charged fully in an hour! You can also further increase the battery duration by using battery saver mode or saving battery in other ways such as turning down brightness, or locking the refresh rate at 60Hz and in other ways.
In conclusion, the battery can easily last through the day and even if it runs out, you can get it charged in no time.
Cameras
The cameras were a downgrade from the original Poco X3. The X3 pro comes with a 48MP primary sensor and a 8MP ultra wide lens. Although the camera results are not much different as to what the Poco X3 offered, the results are still not good enough and are inconsistent.
Another point to keep in mind is that the ultra wide camera has low resolution images, so users do not get much space to edit the pictures or to crop them.
Even though the camera results in low light or indoor places are good, the color balancing for images is not satisfactory. The colors are greatly boosted and it is quite noticeable in red and blue areas.
We also get to see a bit of over saturation along with too sharp pictures and high contrast levels.
Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro Review | Conclusion
To conclude our Poco X3 Pro review, the Poco X3 Pro is a good device, but if you are looking for an all rounder device, you should not go for it.
It was evident that Xiaomi focused primarily on the device’s performance but in the process, they made sacrifices in other aspects of the device.
But if you are looking for a device to use extensively throughout the day, then it is certainly one of the best out there in this budget category.
Instead of focusing entirely on performance, it would have been better if the device came out with other better specs such as an AMOLED display and a better design.
So that was it from our side on the Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro review. We hope that you found the review helpful. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
