How to Use Samsung’s Hidden Undo and Redo Gesture on Galaxy Phone

In this article, we will show you how to use Samsung’s hidden undo and redo gesture on Galaxy devices. Using a PC or a Mac has it’s own advantages, one of which is the undo or redo option. You can just press Ctrl + Z and any mistake you did would be immediately undone. You can do the same thing on a Mac by pressing Command + Z. Every smartphone user also wishes to have this feature on their devices. Similar to the undo feature in a PC or a Mac, Samsung also introduced a useful feature on it’s the keyboard to undo an error in typing. So this guide will show you how to use Samsung’s hidden undo and redo gesture.

The undo feature is an in-built feature in Samsung’s Galaxy devices. The good news is that you do not even need to root your device or install any third-party application to make use of this feature. Even though there are other keyboard applications and software that offer good features, such as the GBoard and the SwiftKey but none of them offer the undo feature that the Samsung keyboard provides. So without any further ado, let’s jump into this guide and discuss how to use Samsung’s hidden undo and redo gesture on your Samsung Galaxy devices.

Use Samsung's hidden undo and redo gesture

How Does the Samsung Hidden Undo and Redo Gesture Work On a Galaxy Device

By now you would have noticed that instead of using the terms ‘button’ or ‘key’ we have used the term ‘gesture’. By default, smartphone devices do not contain a Ctrl button. So we will be making use of gestures to undo a typing error on your device.

By default, many of the keyboards on Android smartphones come with a swipe to type feature. Users can form words by swiping their finger from one letter to the other. In order for Samsung’s hidden undo and redo gesture, we will have to disable the swipe to type feature. After that, we will activate the gesture where we have to swipe in order to undo a mistake or swipe to redo some action.

Android OS and One UI Requirements

In order for the gesture to work, there is one important requirement that must be met, which is that your Galaxy device should be running Android version 10 or higher along with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 or newer. Also, keep in mind that this feature is only available for Samsung Galaxy devices.

Enable Undo and Redo Gesture on Samsung Galaxy Device

Now just follow these steps given in order to disable the swipe to type feature and enable the undo and redo gesture:

  • First, open any app in which you can type in order to open up your keyboard.
  • Then tap on the gear icon in order to open the Keyboard settings.
  • Then from the menu that appears, select the Swipe, Touch and Feedback.
  • Finally set the Keyboard Swipe controls to Cursor Control.

So that was how you can enable Samsung’s hidden undo and redo gesture. Now using the gestures is also very easy. In order to undo any typing error, you just need to swipe from right to left on your keyboard with two fingers and any word you typed would be erased. Swiping from right to left once more will take you to the previous word that you typed. Along the same lines, swiping from the left to right using two fingers will redo your action or re-type any word you erased.

So that was it! We hope that you found this article helpful. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
