Root Android Phones on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware via SuperSU

Google released the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for various Android phones and tablets recently. So if you have installed Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on your device and want to get root access over the internal file system of your phone to get much of it by installing custom ROMs, recoveries as well as third-party apps that need root access then we have a step-by-step guide given below on how to root Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware with SuperSU in a few steps. All you need to download the latest SuperSU built with version 2.62-3 that comes with unique and exclusive features such as like the systemless root, auto encryption, OTA updates enabled and much more. In this guide we’ll flash the SuperSU build using a custom recovery like TWRP. Now go ahead and proceed to the installation guide.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Take a proper backup of all your existing data before proceeding to the installation guide.
  • The latest version of a custom recovery like TWRP must be already installed on your device.
  • Download and install USB Drivers on your PC to transfer the SuperSU file.
  • Check the battery level of your device, it should be charged at least about 70% before starting.

Required Files:

  • Download SuperSU v2.62-2 beta

Steps to Root Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware:

1:- First, download the SuperSU package (SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip) from the above link on the desktop of your PC.

2:- Connect your phone with PC using its USB data cable and transfer the SuperSU .zip file into the root folder of internal storage on the phone.

3:- Boot the device into recovery mode. To do so, first turn OFF the phone and then press and hold volume down and power keys altogether for a few seconds.

4:- While the phone is now in TWRP recovery, take a nandroid backup and select System, Data, Boot, Recovery, EFS.

5:- Go back to the main menu of TWRP recovery and tap on Wipe and factory reset.

6:- Again navigate to the main recovery screen and tap on the install option. Locate the SuperSU .zip package that you have already transferred to the internal storage of your phone. Select it.

7:- Begin the installation process by swiping on the confirmation button.

8:- Once the SuperSU package is successfully installed, reboot to system.

Done! You’ve rooted your Android device with latest firmware.
