Is Xiaomi Redmi 10 Waterproof? | Redmi 10 Water Resistance Test

Is the Xiaomi Redmi 10 waterproof or not? In this post, we will be looking over this discussion. The Redmi smartphone lineup is one of the most popular in the Android smartphone market. A major reason behind their popularity is that they offer incredible specifications and features within a very suitable price range. This also explains why they are more popular in the budget segment of the smartphone market.

The latest arrivals are the devices in the Redmi 10 lineup. The series features a few devices including Redmi 10, Redmi Note 10, Redmi 10 Prime and more. Today, we will be talking about the Redmi 10, which comes with a FHD+ display, a 50 MP main camera at the back while we get to see an 8 MP front camera. The device is one of the first to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. It arrives with 4GB RAM variant and a 6GB RAM variant.

When a consumer is looking for a phone to buy, they look at several things, such as features and specs. One specification that users look for is water resistance. Within the budget segment, there are only a few smartphones that are completely waterproof. Phones usually come with the splash proof specification. If you are asking is the Xiaomi Redmi 10 waterproof or not, then continue on with our post to find out.

Xiaomi Redmi 10 IP Rating

IP ratings given to phones help users to know whether a phone is waterproof or not. IP stands for Ingress protection and tells you to what extent a phone is resistant to dust and water. For a phone to be fully waterproof, it should have at least an IP68 rating. An IP 68 rating suggests that a phone can handle full immersion in water without any problems.

Coming to the Redmi 10, there is no official IP rating available for the handset. So it would not be wrong to say that the phones are not waterproof.

Is the Redmi 10 Waterproof? Water tests for Redmi 10

To make sure whether the Xiaomi Redmi 10 is safe to be used around water, we conducted a splash test and a submersion test to determine is the Redmi 10 waterproof or not.

Xiaomi Redmi 10 Splash Test:

The first test is the splash test. This will include immersing the phone in water for a short period. It is expected that the phone will keep working fine after the test because modern phones are designed to be splash resistant.

So we took a bowl full of water and then dropped the Xiaomi Redmi 10 in the bowl. We took it out and then dried it, after which we tried to use the phone.

After the splash test, the phone worked perfectly fine. This means the Xiaomi Redmi 10 is splash resistant and will not present issues if accidentally dropped into water for a short time period.

Xiaomi Redmi 10 Submersion test:

The second test is the submersion test. This will include immersing the phone in water and leaving it there for a longer time period. This will provide us the answer to the question, i.e. is the Xiaomi Redmi 10 waterproof or not.

We took another bowl full of water and this time we immersed the phone in water and let it stay there for a full minute. We took the phone after the minute passed and then thoroughly dried it until we made sure that there were no water droplets left.

After the submersion test we tested various aspects of the phone. We tested the touch, camera, charging port, microphone, speakers, etc. All of them were working fine without any issues.

The tests showed that the Redmi 10 can withstand water even after being submerged in water for a full minute. Although this shows that it is safe to use Redmi 10 around water, this does not mean that the phone is waterproof because there are no official IP ratings. So you should stay careful while using the Redmi 10 near water.

So that was it from our side on the Redmi 10 waterproof test. We hope that you found this post helpful. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
