Install CyanogenMod Android 5.0.1 Lollipop CM12 Custom ROM on Galaxy S4 GT-I9505

The latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop is now available to the Samsung’s 2013 flagship smartphone, Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 using CyanogenMod 12 custom firmware. The new CM12 is based on the Android 5.0.1 that comes with many bugs fixes and improvements, developed by senior XDA Developer forum member moniker, Netanalyzer. But keep in mind that CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop is currently in beta stage, but the developers (CyanogenMod Team) are actively working to fix them to improve its features and to make it more stable. So if you have owned a Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE i9505 and want to update it to Android 5.0.1 CyanogenMod CM12 Custom ROM then here’s a step by step guide to update your Galaxy S4 manually to improve the device’s performance and UI experiences.

Remember that this is just a custom ROM and is not officially released by Samsung. You’ll need to have a custom recovery like ClockworkMod installed to flash the ROM and Google Apps .zip files on your device. If your Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 is not rooted having a custom recovery (ClockworkMod recovery / TWRP recovery) installed on it then you’ll not be able to install this custom ROM.

Installing Android 5.0.1 Lollipop CM12 Custom ROM on Galaxy S4 GT-I9505

Note:

This guide is only applicable to the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Snapdragon chipset variant) JFLTEXX model. Do not try it on any other devices. You can verify the device’s model number from Settings > About Phone > Model Number

Pre-Requirements:

  • Don’t forget to backup all your critical data by installing Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/ TWRP on your device before proceeding to the installation guide, as this guide will wipe your data.
  • Your Galaxy S4 i9505 should be rooted before proceeding to the custom ROM installation.
  • Enable USB Debugging Option by navigating to Settings > Development Options > USB Debugging.
  • Download & Install Samsung USB Drivers for the Galaxy S4 i9505 on your PC.
  • Ensure that your device has at least about 75% charge to prevent shutdowns during the installation process. Otherwise, your device might get temporarily bricked.

Steps to Install CyanogenMod Android 5.0.1 Lollipop CM12 Custom ROM on Galaxy S4 GT-I9505:

Follow the given instructions to update Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 to Android 5.0 CM12 Lollipop custom firmware.

Step No 1: – First download the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop CM12 Custom ROM and Google Apps .zip files from the above-given links on the desktop of your PC.

Step No 2: – Now plug your Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) to PC using USB data cable.

Step No 3: – Copy the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop CM12 Custom ROM .zip file to the root of your SD card on the phone.

Step No 4: – After transferring the Custom ROM .zip file into your device, disconnect it from the PC.

Step No 5: – Power Off the device to boot it into Recovery Mode.

Step No 6: – Now Power it On and then press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.

Step No 7: – While your device is in Recovery Mode, wipe all the phone memory, by selecting “wipe data/factory reset.”

Step No 8: – Then, choose “wipe cache partition” to wipe the cache memory.

9: – Navigate to the main Recovery (ClockworkMod) menu, choose “advanced” and tap “Wipe Dalvik cache.”

Step No 10: – Go back to the main recovery menu again and tap on “install zip from SD card.”

Step No 11: – Here tap on “Choose zip from sd card” and find the Android 5.0.1 Lolipop ROM .zip file in your SD card that you have already copied in Step No 3. Proceed to the installation.

Step No 12: – Once the installation process completed, navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++” and reboot your Galaxy S4 by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu.

The Galaxy S4 GT-I9505) will take about 4-5 minutes to boots up for the first time after installing the firmware.

    like japanese version
    coz my model no. is SC-04E and i dont get any cm rom for my device

  2. i just flashed my i9505 with this. and my external speaker doesn’t work when i play videos from gallery, phone calls too, the earpiece and mouthpiece doesn’t work when in normal mode but when in loudspeak it works. It’s stuck in the earphones. i have to put my earphones in to hear everything. 🙁 but other than that it all works fine. Please help me i really want this lollipop gpe it’s very cool. Oh and my dad said this model of s4 has a problem with lollipop when rooted. coz he gave me this phone it’s already been rooted he cant find the stock rom. i did find one but the same problem occured.
