The upcoming mobile OS Android M (Marshmallow) 6.0 Developer Preview 3 MPA44G finally revealed by Google recently. We have already shared the direct links of factory images and you can now easily install this new Android M MPA44G build bringing updated APIs on your Nexus devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to flash MPA44G Android M on Nexus 6. No doubt that this developer preview is for the developers only and you’ll be required to re-install everything once the final Marshmallow arrives.
Developer Preview 3 will be available soon via OTA (over-the-air), but if you can’t wait for the OTA update and wish to install Android M MPA44G manually on your Nexus 6 then go ahead and follow the given instructions carefully. Keep in mind that while installing this Android M MPA44G Developer Preview 3 factory image, it will wipe all the data from your Nexus device if the bootloader of the phone is already unlocked. It doesn’t matter that your Nexus device is running on a custom ROM or any previous Android OS version to flash Android M Developer Preview 3.

This tutorial containing the Android M MPA44G Developer Preview 3 and instructions are only compatible with Motorola Nexus 6. Do not try to flash this firmware on any other device or incorrect variant.

Pre-Requirements:
- Make a proper backup of all important data and settings on your Nexus device before proceeding to the installation guide.
- Download and install correct USB Drivers for Google Nexus 6 on the PC.
- Enable USB Debugging option by pressing Settings > Applications. Navigate to Developer Options and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled.
- Your Nexus 6 bootloader should be unlocked.
- Make sure that your Nexus 6 is charged at least about 70%.

Steps to Install MPA44G Android M Developer Preview 3 on Nexus 6:
1:- First, download the Android Marshmallow MPA44G factory image (shamu-MPA44G-preview-6ad5fb56.tgz) on your PC for Nexus 6.
Step No 2: Connect the Nexus 6 to PC via its USB data cable.
3:- Power off the Nexus phone in order to boot into the Fastboot / Bootloader mode. Power ON the device while pressing and holding the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons at the same time.
4:- Now extract the Android M factory image file that you’ve already downloaded and saved on your PC.
5:- Navigate to the folder shamu-MPA44G and copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory (Platform-tools folder in Android SDK directory).
Step No 6: While you are now within Fastboot directory which contains the factory images. Run the following commands to flash the factory images.
- For Windows Users: flash-all.bat within Command Prompt.
- For Mac Users: flash-all.sh using Terminal.
- For Linux Users: flash-all.sh.
7:- Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the MPA44G Android M stock factory images to flash successfully on your Nexus 6.
8:- Reboot the Nexus 6 after the installation is completed.
Your phone will boot and may take about 4-5 minutes to boot for the first time after installation.
Done! You have successfully installed the official Android M MPA44G Developer Preview 3 update on your Nexus 6.
