Root Galaxy S5 using CF-Auto-Root on Android 5.0 Lollipop

CF-Auto-Root file method by Chainfire (XDA developer) is now available to root the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) European variant, and you may know that CF-Auto-Root is the easiest way to root Android devices. Samsung recently rolled out Android 5.0 Lollipop stock firmware update having build number G900FXXU1BNL2 for Galaxy S5 SM-G900F in Poland but this update is not currently available to the users in other regions via OTA, and they can manually upgrade their devices.
But if you have already installed XXU1BNL2 Android 5.0 Lollip0p update on your Galaxy S5 and now looking to root your device then here is a step by step guide that how to root Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F on Android 5.0 Lollipop G900FXXU1BNL2 with CF-Auto-Root. After flashing or installing the official firmware, your real root access will be void. So you can again root your Galaxy S5 to enjoy it like the previous version of KitKat 4.4.4. Pre-Requirements:

  • Take proper Backup of your important data and stuff on your Galaxy S5 before starting the rooting process.
  • Download & Install necessary USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy S5
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on your Galaxy S5.
    • Goto Settings > About phone > Tap Build number 7 times. A pop-up will be displayed that “You are now a developer”. Go back to the Developer Options and check USB debugging and click OK.
  • Verify the battery level of your phone; it should be at least about 80%

Steps To Root Galaxy S5 using CF-Auto-Root on Android 5.0 Lollipop [SM-G900F]

1: – First of all unzip the downloaded CF-Auto-Root package and Odin tool on the desktop of your PC and you’ll get .tar.md5 file.

2: – Put your Galaxy S5 into the Download Mode. Turn Off your device and enter Download Mode by holding Home + Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously until a warning message on the phone’s screen appears. Again press the Power button to enter into Download mode

3: – Now launch Odin as an Administrator on your PC.

4: – While the Galaxy S5 is in Download Mode, connect it to the PC through USB data cable. If the USB drivers are properly installed then the phone will be connected successfully.

5: – In Odin click on the AP button and choose the .tar.md5 file from your desktop.

6: – Click on the Start button in Odin to initiate the installation process. This flashing process will some time to finish.

7: – Galaxy S5 will reboot into Recovery Mode and will install the root package, once the installation process is completed successfully. The ID: COM box will then turn blue.

8: – Disconnect your phone from the PC after booting up.

That’s All! Your Galaxy S5 SM-G900F is successfully rooted on Android 5.0 Lollipop using CF-Auto-Root. You can verify the SuperSU app in your app list.   1. Me too, I’m trying to install the root, but I get always fail message. I’ve tried every method and I get the same result

  2. I too get this issue where it says it has failed. I believe the issue was that when I was running Kit Kat I had the option Reactivation Lock switched on. Since upgrading to Lollipop the phone still thinks that Reactivation Lock is active (as it shows when I put my phone in to Download Mode) but when I try and enable or disable it within Lollipop the tick box is always unticked. I am unable to turn it back on or disable it. Has anyone been able to resolve this??????? Many thanks
