Install Rooted TouchWiz Marshmallow Update on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 N920T

This guide containing the Android Marshmallow ROM file and instructions can be used only with the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920T devices. Do not try to install this firmware on any other device. Verify the model number of your Galaxy Note 5, if it is N920T then go ahead, otherwise not. Check the model number of your phone by navigating to Settings > About Phone.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Take a proper backup of all your important data and settings on the Galaxy Note 5 before doing anything.
  • Download and install the Samsung USB Drivers from on your computer.
  • Make sure to disable the Samsung KIES app and antivirus on the PC.
  • Enable Oem Unlock from Settings > Developer Options
  • Enable USB Debugging option by Settings > Developer Options.
  • If you have already rooted your phone, then the updating process will revoke root access.
  • If a custom Recovery is installed on your Galaxy Note 5 then it will be replaced by a stock Recovery image.
  • Ensure that the battery charge level of your Galaxy Note 5 is above 80% before proceeding to the installation guide.

Required Files:

Steps to Update T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 N920T to Android Marshmallow and Root it:

1:- First, download all the above files from the given links on the desktop of your PC.

2:- Turn OFF the Galaxy Note 5 in order to boot into Download mode.

3:- Turn ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power ON keys altogether for a few seconds until a warning screen appears. Then press Volume Up to continue to Download Mode.

4:- Run Odin v3.10.7.exe on your PC as an Administrator.

5:- Connect the Galaxy Note 5 to the PC and extract the ALL_N920TUVU2DOK5-M_CL6256935.zip file.

6:- Select the firmware files in the Odin tool and remember to add Pit file in the Pit tab of Odin.

7:- One the file selection is done, click on the start button to finish. (This process may take some time)

8:- Next, install the Kernel file using the Odin tool. To do so, boot the Galaxy Note 5 into Download Mode again and rename KERNEL_N920T(2DOK5)-M_SU-SUPPORT.tar.md5 to KERNEL_N920T(2DOK5)-M_SU-SUPPORT.tar.(remove .md5)

9:- Click on the AP tab in Odin and select the Kernel file to start the flashing process.

10:- Now flash the Custom Recovery similarly. Boot the phone into Download mode once again. Click on the AP button in Odin and select twrp-2.8.7.1-noblelte.img.tar and click on the Start button.

10:- Once the installation process is completed successfully, boot the device into Recovery by pressing and holding  Power + Volume Up + Home buttons altogether.

12:- Copy the SuperSu.zip to your device.

13:- While the Galaxy T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 is in custom recovery, flash the SuperSU .zip package.

14:- In the Custom recovery, select the Install option and locate the SuperSu zip file. Confirm to install.

15:- Reboot your Galaxy Note 5 and enjoy the latest Android OS version with root access.
