Pre-Requirements:
- Create a proper backup of all important data of the phone using custom recovery like CWM or TWRP before proceeding to the installation guide.
- Enable USB Debugging on the Xperia Z3 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
- The battery level of your Z3 should be above 80% to prevent unexpected shutdowns while installation.
- Your Xperia Z3 should be rooted and the latest version of recovery must be installed on it.
- The bootloader of the phone should be unlocked.

Steps to Install Lollipop Android 5.1.1 on Xperia Z3 with CarbonROM:
1:- First, extract the downloaded CarbonROM and Google Apps Package on your PC and get the boot.img file separately.
2:- Now connect the Xperia Z3 with PC using its USB data cable and mount its USB memory.
3:- Transfer the CarbonROM which you’ve already downloaded from the above link to the root folder of your SD card.
4:- Next, copy the boot.img file to android-sdk-windows/platform-tools directory on the PC.
5:- Turn OFF the Xperia Z3 in order to boot into bootloader mode.
6:- Press and hold Volume Up key while connecting it with a USB cable. Once the phone’s LED light turned blue, Z3 will be entered into bootloader mode.
7:- Navigate to android-sdk-windows/platform-tools directory and launch the command prompt.
8:- Type the following command and hit the Enter button:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

fastboot reboot
10:- Turn ON the phone while pressing Volume Up or Volume Down keys for a few times to enter into Recovery Mode.
10:- Perform wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and navigate to advanced option to select wipe dalvik cache.
12:- Go back to the main menu of recovery and choose install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard. Then locate the CarbonROM (root folder of SD Card). Select it and confirm installation to begin.
13:- Finally, install the Google Apps package on the Xperia Z3 by repeating the same procedure given above.
14:- Reboot the phone once the installation is completed.
