The latest version of Android Lollipop has been announced just a few days ago by Google. Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are the first devices that got this update before others. It is expected that other manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC etc will also update their devices soon to Android 5.1 Lollipop. One of the old devices Galaxy S3 that was released in 2012 and came with 1 GB of RAM, this amount of RAM was not enough to get upcoming software updates and it was also somewhat ignored by Samsung. But the developers worked hard to create awesome ROMs based on the latest version of Android OS. That is the reason that this device received multiple ROMs based on Android 5.0 Lollipop previously.
Just like CyanogenMod12, OmniROM is also one of the most popular custom ROMs and being a Galaxy S3 owner you’ll be happy to know that OmniROM is now available to the Galaxy S3 which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, developed by “mcgi5sr2” (Senior XDA Member). So if you want to get this OmniROM on your Galaxy S3 then here is a step-by-step guide to install Android 5.1 Lollipop via OmniROM Alpha build on Samsung Galaxy S3.
Keep in mind that this OmniROM is in alpha stage, thus some bugs are expected and you may face some not functioning features but according to users, most of the features are working fine except the Codec issue which is affecting video recording.
