How to Install TWRP Recovery on Motorola Phones

Now you have the correct TWRP image for your device downloaded, you can proceed to the installation process given below. This guide explains how to install TWRP recovery on Motorola devices step by step.

Important Things to Remember:

  • You need to make sure that the bootloader of your Motorola device is unlocked.
  • You also need to have developer options enabled. You can do this by going to Settings > About phone and tapping on build number multiple times.
  • You also need to enable USB Debugging on your phone. Do this by going to Settings > Developer options. Make sure that the USB Debugging is checked.
  • You should also backup all of the data in your phone because this process deletes all of the data.
  • As a precaution, you also need to have your phone charged up to at least 50% so that your phone does not shut down in the middle of the process.

Installation Tutorial:

STEP 1: First, download and install ADB and Fastboot tools – Android SDK Platform tools package.

STEP 2: Then connect your Motorola device to your computer using a USB cable.

STEP 3: Then download the correct TWRP image for your device from the links provided to you above and then save it on your computer.

STEP 4: Find your way to the same location  as where you have Fastboot (i.e. Step 1) and on Windows: Open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt). For Mac OS X and Linux, use Terminal to navigate to this directory.

STEP 5: Then key in the following command and press enter:

adb reboot bootloader

STEP 6: Then wait while your phone boots into bootloader mode. You can also boot your phone into bootloader mode by pressing Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.

STEP 7: When your phone has booted into bootloader mode, then type in the following command and press enter:

fastboot flash recovery FILE-NAME.img

STEP 8: After the flashing process is finished, enter the following command and press enter:

fastboot reboot

NOTE: You need to replace FILE-NAME in the command with the name of the image that you downloaded for your phone.
