Please keep in mind that this is just a custom ROM, not officially released by Google/LG. This guide is meant only for the Nexus 5. Installing xTraSmooth Custom ROM on any other variant may brick the device. You can check the device’s model number by navigating to Settings > About Phone.

Pre-Requirements:
- It is recommended to take a proper backup of the important data and settings using a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP on your phone.
- Download and install the correct USB drivers on your LG Nexus 5 from this link.
- Make sure that your LG Nexus 5 is factory unlocked.
- The bootloader of your device should be unlocked.
- The LG Nexus 5 device must be rooted. Otherwise, you’ll not install this custom ROM.
- Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Nexus 5 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
- Check the battery level of your device; it should be at least about 80%, before proceeding to the ROM installation.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.1 Lollipop xTraSmooth Custom ROM on Nexus 5:
Step No 1: – First, download Android 5.0.1 Lollipop xTraSmooth Custom ROM in a folder on the desktop of your PC for Nexus 5.
Step No 2: – Plug your Nexus 5 with the PC using its USB data cable and mount the USB Mass Storage.
Step No 3: – Transfer the xTraSmooth ROM .zip file downloaded from the above link, to the root folder of your SD Card on the phone.
Step No 4: – Disconnect your device from the PC and Turn it Off in order to boot into Bootloader Mode.
Step No 5: – Turn On the device by pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons altogether.
Step No 6: – Select the Bootloader option and then choose Recovery from the Bootloader menu.
Step No 7: – While your device is now in CWM Recovery, perform a full data wipe by selecting Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
Step No 8: – Now perform Wipe Cache Partition, it will take a while.
Step No 9: – Next, Wipe Dalvik Cache by navigating to “Advanced” and select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Step No 10: – Go back to the main Recovery menu and select Install Zip from SD card.
Step No 11: – Select Choose Zip from SD card and find the xTraSmooth ROM .zip file that you have already transferred to the SD Card of your phone. Then select it by tapping the Power button and proceed to the ROM installation.
Step No 12: – Install Google Apps (Gapps) by repeating the above two steps.
Step No 13: – After the ROM and Gapps installation completes, navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++”, and from the Recovery Menu, select Reboot System Now.
The first boot may take about 4 to 5 minutes to complete for the first time after the ROM and Gapps installation.
