Android 13’s Partial Screen Sharing | What to Expect?

In this guide, we will be talking about Android 13’s partial screen sharing. In a bid to improve the overall Android 13 experience for users, Google is working to make the Android 13 built-in screen recorder better for users. How are they going to make it better? Well, they are planning to allow users to record specific apps only instead of the entire content on their screen.

Android 13’s partial screen sharing feature was first introduced by Google with Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1. Later, users got to experience an initial UI for the new feature in Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2, which was released this month. Although the feature will probably come out to all devices in an update later down the road, we have gotten an idea of how the feature will look and work when it does come out.

Tech journalist Mishaal Rahmaan has shared insights on Android 13’s partial screen sharing feature. He has shared some screenshots showing the new UI for Android’s screen recorder. The pop-up for the screen recorder will allow users to control whether they want to record their entire screen or just a particular application.

This will be done through a dropdown toggle, allowing users to choose whether to record audio and show where they touch their screens.

When you select the “Record a single app” option, you will be presented with an interface where you must select the app you want to record. You will be able to see thumbnails, showing you a preview of what your recording will look like. Swiping up on the app selector screen will reveal a more extensive section where there will be more apps you can record.

Also, the new feature will allow users to share their screens with other users with compatible devices. According to the tech journalist, screencasting could be done on the companion app streaming feature, which was introduced by Google last year. This feature allows users to share their screens from their Android 13 phones to other compatible devices, such as a Chromebook.

So that was it from our side on Android 13’s partial screen sharing feature. Keep in mind that the feature is still in the development stage, so the final product may be different from what we know now. We hope that you found this guide helpful.
